Well, finally after 13 days I get to see Brad tonight! I am blogging early since his flight gets in in about an hour and I am going to go pick him up and hug him for at least a solid hour! It will be so good to see him!
I started off the day in Pittsburg, Kansas .... sending my mother off to school! Now isn't that a kick in the pants for role reversal! After loading up the truck and doing one last chore (I just couldn't leave the mountain of leaves in her little yard so thanks for letting me borrow your leaf blower Mimi!). I hit the road about 8:30 with the temperature at 34 degrees. Brrrrrrr! Back through Missouri, back through Illinois and back to Indiana, where I now sit at the Marriott as I write this. It was a long day - grand total about ten and a half or eleven hours in the car, but I am here and all went well.
I have to admit, I love Missouri just for that "What?!?" factor. I am not sure I ever truly appreciated it until this trip through but they have the greatest roadside attractions! Oh sure, there is lots of Route 66 stuff and all kinds of history, but I am talking the REAL attractions! I didn't stop but saw signs for The World's Largest Rocking Chair (if you recall, I did stop at the World's Largest Gift Store last week in Missouri!), the Vacuum Cleaner Museum and did a double take as I zoomed past but I swear at one point that right next to a field full of cattle I saw a field that had llamas and emus in it!!!! Seriously? Emus in Missouri?! Then of course I HAD to stop for lunch at Missouri Hick Barbecue! I tell you what, those hicks make some mean brisket and my sandwich was great!!
Back on the road, back to my tunes and my NPR (thank gosh the pledge drive week is over!), several Diet Cokes and even one half hot chocolate/half English toffee coffee later (I was sick of Diet Coke but wanted caffeine!), I arrived in Indy just as it started to rain. We've been fortunate with the football games this season as far as weather goes except for one but I think that will change tomorrow. Not sure about rain but it's supposed to be only in the 30's or low 40's for the game! Guess it's time to break out some of that winter gear I've been lugging along!
So today was mostly driving but it was all worth it. Get to see Jeff play football tomorrow, Brad's sister Lisa and her new husband, Brandon, are coming to the game and afterwards we get to take Jeff and Michelle out for dinner. But mostly it was all worth it because I get to see the man that makes my heart sing and who nurtures my soul like no other.
Today's song seemed like a no-brainer. Great song ......... "Friday I'm in Love" but The Cure!!!
Peace out!
Whew that wore me out just reading it! Glad you get to see your sweetie! Tell him I said thanks for sharing you with us!!! Cherish those hugs tonight and Go Dawgs tomorrow!!
